So here's my first posting. I took these pictures on a walk in Astoria, OR. It was a great sunny day, and I couldn't believe the wide variety of cool images and patterns I noticed when I was holding a camera. I am not great at composing pictures yet, I just wanted to point the camera at stuff and see what happened. I'm pleased with the results, but I know I still have a lot to learn .

Yeah, you have a lot to learn. But those are okay--keep practicing!
This is kick butt! Nice photo.
I enjoyed looking at the pictures.
I like the sepia affect in the first picture, especially with the boats...its give is an old historical feel.
I really like the texture of the tree. That would be a good tree for some closer shots and/or different angles to capture the light and shadow textures. It looks like the background could be fun to play with too...i.e. increased depth so it is blurred and/or from various angles.
I love the depth in the flower picture.
I really like how the butterfly fills the shot. I also like the crisp and clear butterfly with the depth. It looks like a professional shot from a butterfly book or something.
I like the natural symmetry of the last picture and I like how it fills the frame.
There is a free online photography lesson, that I found interesting. Mainly its a bunch of tips ranging from equipment to composition to working with subjects: http://www.tribalcog.com/learn/
